Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Course

STUDENTS MUST ATTEND ALL SCHEDULED DAYS AND TIMES OF IN-PERSON COURSE AND COMPLETE THE ONLINE COURSE.  Online content will be emailed to candidates one week prior to the first day of class.

The Water Safety Instructor (WSI) course will train instructor candidates to teach courses in the American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety program including Parent and Child Aquatics, Preschool Aquatics, Learn-to-Swim, Adult Swim, Private Lessons, Water Safety Courses and Water Safety Presentations.
This class develops candidate understanding of how to use the course materials, how to conduct training sessions and how to evaluate participants progress.

Instructor candidates must be at least 16 years of age by the last day of class.
Demonstrate the ability to perform the following swimming skills (on the first day of class):
-  Swim the following strokes consistent with Level 4:
-  Front Crawl, Back Crawl, Breaststroke, Elementary Backstroke, Sidestroke: 25 yards
-  Butterfly: 15 yards
-  Back float for 1 minute (floating or sculling)
-  Tread water for 1 minute

Upon successful completion of the WSI class, participants will receive an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification (WSI) valid for 2 years.

Students must attend all scheduled days and times of the in-person course and complete the online course.  Online content will be emailed to candidates one week prior to the first day of class.  Check www.neighborhoodclub.org for class dates and availability.

Cancellation Policy:
Refunds will be made if the registrant cancels 7 days prior to the start of the course, with a processing fee of $15 deducted.
If a cancellation is made within 7 days prior to the start date, only the $40 certification fee will be refunded.
